Livestock Sales Reports - Lairg

United Auctions (Tuesday 3rd October 2017) sold 8637 North Country Cheviot gimmers and ewes at their annual sale.

Buyers from all corners of the country were present from Orkney in the North, the Cotswolds in the South and Ireland in the West.  The main attraction of the day was the two dispersals of renown Cheviot flocks, Heathmont and Inverbrora, which met a firm enquiry throughout.  A centre record was achieved for a pen of 6 black Cheviot gimmers from the Heathmount dispersal, which were sold for charity to Mr R McCulloch, Overhill House.  The pen realised £500 per head which saw proceeds being split between the RSABI and the Highland Hospice.  Like all centres this season trade was easier on the year.

1889 Gimmers (+117) sold to average £104.28 (-£21.86) selling to a top of £210 for a pen of Hill NCC from AR MacKenzie, Heathmont, Tain. Park type NCC sold sold to a top of £170 from A MacKay, South Balkeith, Tain.

6748 Ewes (+123) sold to average £68.96 (- £15.15) selling to a top of £270 for 1 crop ewes from AR MacKenzie, Heathmount, Tain.
