United Auctions held their Annual May Sale of 278 cattle of all classes, at Dalmally Auction Mart. A good offering of grazing cattle sold in keeping with principal Mainland Centre’s. Averages failed to reach last year’s exceptional high values, this being attributed to lack of grass throughout the country. Bullocks sold to average £755 per head or 231pence per kilo and sold to a top of £1355 for Charolais Crosses from Auchlyne and 258pence per kilo, also Charolais Crosses from Barnakill. Heifers sold to average £608 per head or 212pence per kilo and selling to a top of £1035 for Charolais Crosses from Auchlyne and 231pence per kilo for Charolais Crosses from Dunans.
